Ghent University (UGent) and University College Ghent (HoGent) are pleased to announce ICLC 7 - UCCTS 3, an international academic conference in the fields of contrastive linguistics and corpus-based translation studies which is held at Ghent University, Belgium, from Thursday July 11 to Saturday July 13, 2013.
ICLC 7 - UCCTS 3 combines in a single venue the latest editions of two conference series:
* the 7th edition of the International Contrastive Linguistics Conference (ICLC 7), and
* the 3rd edition of Using Corpora in Contrastive and Translation Studies (UCCTS 3).
Between them, ICLC 7 and UCCTS 3 encompass the full range of contrastive linguistics and corpus-based translation studies, including corpus-based interpreting studies. Given the complementary nature of these fields of study, and the methodological overlap between them, the primary aim of ICLC7-UCCTS3 is to bring together people and create theoretical and empirical synergies across disciplinary boundaries.
The ‘double bill’ of ICLC 7 - UCCTS 3 also marks an institutional watershed: as of the academic year 2013-2014, HoGent's Faculty of Applied Language Studies will definitively join UGent, becoming an integral part of the University's Faculty of Arts and Philosophy. To celebrate the occasion, members of both institutions are joining forces, inviting colleagues from all over the world to Ghent for a meeting of linguistic minds in one of the most beautiful historical cities of Western Europe.
